JOHN Coleman says has had no qualms about his players partying long into the night, despite having a quick turnaround with a trip to Wycombe to prepare for.

The Stanley players made the most of their celebrations after a 2-0 home win over Yeovil Town secured an historic first promotion to the third tier for the club.

The champagne was flowing at the final whistle, with midfielder Scott Brown revealing he was still wearing his kit when he got home.

Coleman feels his players have earned the right to celebrate. And he has told them that if they work hard for it they can do it all again.

“We’ve got a great set of characters in there who are very fit boys. You can let them let their hair down a little bit, they’ve still got plenty of time to prepare for this game,” said the Stanley boss.

“It’s something that’s new to us, getting promoted within the Football League, it’s been a great occasion and why shouldn’t they celebrate it - the players and the fans.”

But after a day off to soak in their achievements and recover on Wednesday, the players were back on the training ground yesterday to prepare to take on a Wycombe side who are unbeaten in eight and, sitting third, are well in the automatic promotion mix.

“It will be a tough game, they’re a tough side and they’ve been on a great run,” said Coleman.

“Gareth (Ainsworth) has got them playing a certain way that’s really effective for them.

“We’ve been on a good run as well so it should be two teams going for a win. No-one will be sitting back.”

Asked if the pressure would be on the Chairboys as they bid to secure a top three place, Coleman added: “I couldn’t govern what pressure they’ll feel, I just know our own pressure. We want to try to win the league so that’s enough pressure for us.

“It is in our own hands.”

Having secured promotion with four games to go, and needing just two more wins to claim the League Two title, Stanley could be relaxed enough to play with freedom and express themselves, but Coleman said: “I don’t know about that, only time will tell.

“We did look a little bit edgy against Exeter last Saturday. In the second half on Tuesday we put all that behind us and we were fantastic so if we can keep those levels of performance and work ethic up we’ve got a good chance of winning those two games.”
