Southend boss Chris Powell hopes frustrating Rovers and making the Ewood Park crowd ‘edgy’ can help his side earn positive result tomorrow.

Rovers are unbeaten in their last 17 home matches and moved top of the table with a win at MK Dons on Easter Monday.

The Shrimpers were victorious against Rovers on the opening day and are chasing a double over Tony Mowbray’s men.

And while Powell has been impressed with Rovers, he believes his side have what it takes to come out on top.

He said: “They have been doing well - they beat Bradford City in their last home game - last Thursday - I watched that. Then they beat MK Dons, so they are in a good place, we know that.

“We need to frustrate them, we need to create our own situations.

“If we can make them edgy and make the crowd edgy, then we can play with a lot of freedom and hopefully do our best to win on the road again.

“We haven’t done that since Peterborough - we have got some draws - but actually I think that good teams have solid home form and pick up regular results on the road. It’s about time we got another three points on the road.”

A bullish Powell told the Yellow Advertiser: “We are not going up there to make up the numbers that is for certain. But we can play with a certain amount of freedom because we have earned the right to do that.

“But I want to see a performance for us for sure.”
