IT turns out wins are like buses – you wait ages for one and then two come along at once.

And what a resounding win it was, especially given we were pretty poor in the first half and the second half was played against a toxic backdrop at the London Stadium.

I think we all knew how badly the move to the former Olympic Stadium had gone for West Ham but I don’t think I have ever seen scenes like those that we saw there last Saturday.

Multiple pitch invasions, members of the board having to leave for their own safety and a chap wandering right into the centre circle with a corner flag!

Credit to our players not just for the way they held their nerve but also the fact they allowed some kids to share the subs bench when things went off.

West Ham are a grand old club but I have very little sympathy with their current plight I have to admit.

The drive and desire for instant success is a cancerous notion and that club is being torn apart from all quarters.

I’ve said it a number of times but I am so thankful that our club is run the way it is.

We might get frustrated at times but we’re a model club compared to the likes of West Ham (and many others!).

Built not bought is the way the method of our success is frequently described and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I hope now that the football authorities come down like a ton of bricks on the Hammers because that behaviour has no place in football.

The match itself was a game of two halves and Chris Wood again stepped off the bench to make the difference, setting up Ashley Barnes – who is again being touted by Austria for a call-up – for the first and adding two more for a 3-0 win.

That clean sheet probably came at a great time for those lads with England ambitions.

Gareth Southgate names his squad for the forthcoming friendlies today and I’ll be amazed if Nick Pope and James Tarkowski – at the very least – aren’t in there.

Ben Mee probably has an outside chance as well as Jack Cork although I won’t get greedy.

Southgate has spent enough time at the Turf recently to see for himself what a great backbone they are in this team and I just hope that is recognised!
