ACCRINGTON Stanley owner Andy Holt is calling on the people of East Lancashire to 'join in' with the Reds' remarkable campaign as ticket prices are slashed for Saturday's home game with Forest Green Rovers.

Stanley soared to the top of the League Two table last weekend with a 2-1 success at Luton Town, with Billy Kee's 93rd minute winner sending John Coleman's side above the Hatters.

And the Reds remained top of the league when Nathan Jones' side were held to a 2-2 draw with Coventry on Tuesday night.

Now Stanley return to the Wham Stadium hoping to continue the home comforts they've enjoyed of late, having notched seven successive wins on their own turf. And with tickets half price, with adults paying just £10, Holt is hoping to see a big crowd for what he believes could be a 'magic' weekend.

The crowd could be further boosted by Burnley being without a game this weekend, while Blackburn Rovers face a long trip to Gillingham.

“We really want people to join in with the season and enjoy what’s happening," Holt said.

“When we planned this we hadn’t realised Burnley weren’t playing and I know a lot of their fans want to come on because they’ve contacted me.

“I’m hoping for a really good crowd."

Stanley's winning run at home has coincided with Holt's introduction of the Winners Hour offer in the sports bar. When the Reds win at home all draft beers and ciders are reduced to just £1 a pint for the hour after the final whistle, while the players and manager mingle with supporters in the bar after the game.

Holt believes that gives Stanley a unique offering when it comes to football in this area and he's urging people to give it a go this weekend.

“Given the size and scale of the club we’re performing really well on and off the pitch. It’s a great time to come down," he said.

“This weekend should be magic, I can’t wait for it myself.

“We have a unique offer in East Lancashire. You will meet the players after the match, regardless of the result, you will get to meet the manager, they will come out and meet people.

“We don’t finish work when we’ve had a shower at Accrington, we value everyone who comes to see us and we’re more than happy to spend time with them.

“The lads are happy to do it. They finish a match on the floor sometimes the effort they put in, but they’re happy to carry on working. It’s a really good experience. I’m really proud of what we’re doing on and off the pitch.

“Everybody is pulling in the right direction, it’s a special time for the club."

Stanley pulled in 1,769 punters for their last home game with Morecambe, but Holt is confident any new or returning fans visiting the Wham Stadium this weekend won't regret it.

“We’ve a lot of home fans that may not come every match but will hopefully come on Saturday," he said.

"It’s a different atmosphere, a different offer. I think it’s a better offer. I think you watch some really entertaining football.

“Premier League football is a bit like a game of chess sometimes, whereas at our level it’s a real, tough gritty game. It’s great to watch.

“Everyone who comes down tell me they have a great time. That’s what it’s like."
