SEAN Dyche has been racking up the records as Burnley boss and he achieved another personal milestone on Thursday - albeit one he is keen to forget.

The unexpected snowfall that brought much of the north west to a standstill had a knock-on effect on Dyche's usual Thursday morning commute from his family home near Kettering.

The heavy traffic on the motorways saw the Clarets chief take almost five hours to reach the Barnfield Training Centre, a new record time.

That unexpected journey and Dyche's twice weekly commute from his family home helps explain why he has said no to the chance of working at the World Cup in Russia this summer.

In the week it was revealed that Jose Mourinho would make £1million for potentially just five days work as a pundit for Russia Today, Dyche said he had also been approached about doing some work in Russia.

While the sums weren't on that level Dyche revealed he had turned down the opportunity to cover the tournament and spend time in Russia watching and working at games to spend more time with his family.

“I have been asked, but I won’t be going. Family comes first. I love my job, but it’s always them first, and that second," the Clarets chief said.

“I’d love to go, but the family come first, they are the rules!

“I’ve done some work for Sky in international breaks covering the other leagues.

“A couple of different people approached me, but I love my family time and they come first."

Dyche has also been a regular contributor to talk shows on the radio and enjoys media work, but he is keen to spend time with his family during his summer away from the Barnfield Training Centre.

But the Burnley boss could be an interested observer from a distance at events in Russia, with plenty of his squad vying for places at the tournament.
