JACK Cork believes Burnley will be facing a very different Swansea side to the one they beat at Turf Moor back in November when they travel to the Liberty Stadium today.

The former Swansea midfielder can see similarities between the upturn the Swans are enjoying under Carlos Carvalhal and the revival they had a year ago when Paul Clement was in charge.

Six weeks ago Swansea looked to be sleepwalking towards relegation but the surprise appointment of Carvalhal has seen them out of the bottom three with victories over Liverpool and Arsenal under their belt.

Clement took over at almost exactly the same stage of the 2016/17 season and managed to right a sinking ship and keep the club in the Premier League before the problems returned and he was fired in December.

“Paul Clement did a good job, he did exactly the same thing last season and they stayed up quite well in the end," said Cork, who started 25 Premier League games for Swansea last term.

"Maybe things were getting a bit stale, the new manager has come in and done exactly what Clement did last time, he’s given them all a boost, everyone wants to impress the manager and you think it’s a new start and the form comes with that.

"It’s going to be a different Swansea to the one we faced earlier in the season."

In that win at Turf Moor Cork opened the scoring before Ashley Barnes sealed the victory.

In total Cork made 83 appearances for Swansea and he looks back on his time in South Wales fondly.

“It was a great club for me. It was good the first season I went there," the 28-year-old said.

"We had a great season and ended up finishing eighth or ninth.

"The next two were difficult seasons. We had two similar seasons to what Swansea are having now.

"We had a bad start, changes in manager, changes in staff, change in players and we managed to produce form towards the end of the season which managed to keep us up, which is exactly what’s happening to Swansea now.

"The last three games they’ve had, they’ve got seven points out of nine and six from teams in the top six, so it’s not going to be an easy game for us.

"I know from being there that when the club is in a good period like this they can get a good atmosphere and the players will be right up for it and it will be a tough game for us."

Cork is Burnley's only ever-present left this season - having played every Premier League minute - but he said he feels fresh once again after a busy festive period.

“It was a little bit tough at Christmas time. When you start getting kicks and there are a lot games in a short space of time," he said.

“But coming back into January when it’s Saturday-Saturday there’s a lot of time to recover and get back to enjoying it."
