ROVERS have announced the signing of Jack Payne on loan from Huddersfield Town until the end of the season.

The 23-year-old spent the first half of the season with Oxford United, scoring seven times and laying on nine assists.

He scored in Rovers' 4-2 win at the Kassam Stadium and caught the eye with an excellent personal performance.

He joins from Premier League side Huddersfield who he joined in 2016 Southend, making 28 appearances for the Terriers as last season as they were promoted through the play-offs.

Tony Mowbray had been keen to add some individuality to his squad in the forward areas and the left-footer arrives with the ability to both score and creates goals.

Payne, whose deal at the John Smith's Stadium runs until 2019, trained with his team mates for the first time this morning and will be available for Saturday's trip to Fleetwood Town.
