SEAN Dyche admits he 'absolutely loves' a 1-0 win and his side are giving him plenty to enjoy.

The Clarets are rapidly becoming the 'kings of the 1-0' and Tuesday night's success over Stoke City was the sixth time they've won by that scoreline this season.

Dyche has steered Burnley to 27 Premier League wins and a remarkable 15 of them have been 1-0, a total of 55 per cent. In total 33 of his 92 league wins in charge of the Clarets have been by that scoreline.

Those records compare favourably to George Graham's Arsenal, who were famed for their 1-0 wins in the late 1980s and early 1990s. In total Graham tasted 173 league wins in charge of the Gunners, with 35 of them 1-0, a total of around 20 per cent.

Burnley's two home wins this week, over Watford and Stoke City, have taken them to 10 wins at Turf Moor in 2017 and all of them have been achieved while keeping a clean sheet.

It's a record Dyche is delighted with.

“I love them 1-0s, absolutely love them. Every manager does," he said.

"Brian Clough used to love a 1-0 and he was a genius and everything. He used to tell the players. Clean sheet, score a goal. 1-0, 100-0, the idea is to win. So if you can win, that’s the marker, if you can score loads of goals, brilliant, but this is not an easy business.

“To try and keep clean sheets, score goals and win...not many teams in the Premier League, apart from the super powers find it easy to score goals and win games.

“We’re not making out we’re going to score five a game, we’re saying we might be in these games that are tight, and we get on the right side of the margins? On Tuesday we did.

“On Saturday, that was a 1-0, but other than a couple of decisions, it could have been more comfortable, 2/3-0.

“But you take it as it comes. We’re not powerful enough to make statements saying we want to score more goals, we know what we are, that’s for sure."
