TONY Mowbray says Rovers’ awards haul was just rewards for the players’ hard work and endeavour last month.

Mowbray and skipper Charlie Mulgrew collected the Sky Bet League One manager and player of the month awards respectively while Marcus Antonsson collected the PFA fans’ gong.

Rovers won all four of their league fixtures in November, netting 13 goals along the way, and they start December’s league programme with a trip to seventh-placed Peterborough tomorrow.

They are aiming for a seventh away success so far this season having won on their travels at Bury, Oxford and Blackpool in three of their last four league outings.

“It is reward for the hard work that everyone has put in,” Mowbray said of the awards.

“The players have embraced what we have been asking them to do.

“There’s been a swing in the way we won at Bradford and Scunthorpe (both 1-0) as opposed to the wins at Oxford and Blackpool (both 4-2) and the difference in mentality that the players have embraced.

“They have got on with it and huge credit to the players who have put in the effort and the work, not just on matchdays but on the training ground as well to get to the levels that they have been able to perform at.

“We do know it’s not even Christmas, there’s a long way to go and we have to try and sustain that, keep the players fit.

“The Peterborough game is the next one on the agenda, we will go there and play on the front foot, ask questions of them and see if we can get the right result.”

Mowbray, yet to name an unchanged team this term, will be forced in to a change with Elliott Bennett suspended.

He will also ponder his options in attack after Dominic Samuel netted three goals in his last two games, with Danny Graham also making vital contributions.

He said: “The choices have been good for a good few weeks now.

“Everyone has come to the party.

“The good thing for me is there has been no sulking from any of those players when they have found themselves on the bench, knowing there’s every chance they can come off the bench and impact the game.

“When they come off the bench and score it gives you a difficult decision the following week but as I have tried to explain to them all once we study the opposition I try and pick the best striker type for the game in front of us.

“It’s not whether they have scored two in the last game, if I feel that’s not the type of striker you require in the next game then I won’t pick them because what matters is the next game not that we won the last one.

“I think they all know that, all bought in to that and know that I appreciate their talents and strengths and we will try and pick the right combination for each game.”
