EVERTON are not set to make an imminent approach for Clarets boss Sean Dyche, contrary to reports this morning.

Sky Sports News had reported that the Toffees would make their move for Dyche in the next 24 hours, but the Lancashire Telegraph understands that is NOT the case.

David Unsworth is currently in caretaker charge at Goodison Park and the former Everton and Burnley defender is set to get until the international break to try and convince the owners he should be appointed.

Unsworth has suffered defeat in his first two games in charge, at Chelsea in the Carabao Cup and Leicester in the Premier League, and he has takes Everton to Lyon in the Europa League on Thursday night before a home game in the league with Watford on Sunday.

That signals the start of a two-week international break and the Toffees could make a decision over a permanent boss at that point.

Dyche, who marked five years in charge of the Clarets with a win over Newcastle on Monday night, could yet emerge as a target at Goodison Park.
