TONY Mowbray said he couldn’t criticise his players after the home draw with bottom side Plymouth Argyle but was disappointed after more dropped points leaves them still 10th in the table.

Rovers fell behind to Graham Carey’s 20-yard strike in the first half but equalised just before the break when Bradley Dack fired home.

The second half was played almost exclusively in the visitors' half, but for all their 25 shots at goal, Rovers managed just four on target in their pursuit of the winner.

“It was a game that we probably deserved to take the three points from yet we didn't,” Mowbray said.

“I can't stand here and overly criticise them apart from really a lack of nowse in‎ the final third to get the ball in the net.

“We had enough chances to win a few games but it wasn't to be and credit to them.

“There is huge disappointment.

“Right to the end we had a chance in the last minute but it was not going to be for us.

“If we continue with the same intent then we will win a lot of matches.

“It is a long season, lots of games and we have to be positive and on the front foot.”

Substitute Ben Gladwin may still be wondering how he didn’t score in injury time as his effort from inside the six yard box was somehow kept out.

And Mowbray added: “I feel for Ben, he has had a tough time acclimatising.

“He has found it difficult but he is massive talent, the lads have great admiration for his skills and what a time it would have been for him to score the winner in the last minute.

“It would have been great for his confidence and belief but it was not to be.

“I don’t know whether it was save or deflected off the defender on the line and it happens.

“The boys are saying that it’s a long season, lots of games and we have to be positive.”

Plymouth came in to the game having not won since the opening month of the season but celebrated at the final whistle as they held on for a point.

“They had a lot of men behind the ball, they defended with 10 men behind the ball for most of the night,” Mowbray said.

“The more we gambled in the last 15 minutes the more they looked like they would break away.

“We created chances but it wasn’t to be and it’s difficult to get through 10 men.

“We tried to go around the sides, we put (Harry) Chapman on and we had some chances but didn’t quite have the finish, put some balls in the box and it wouldn’t drop for us.

“It is frustrating.  I was really disappointed after Oldham and have been disappointed after a few games and while we are disappointed with the result I can’t be disappointed with their effort and desire to try and win the match.”
