ROVERS prospect Dan Butterworth has signed his first professional contract with the club.

The 18-year-old striker has put pen-to-paper on a two-year deal, which will keep him at Ewood Park until the summer of 2020.

Butterworth arrived at Ewood Park during the 2015/16 season from Manchester United and enjoyed a breakthrough campaign last term.  He netted 12 goals for the Under-18s in the first half of last season which saw him elevated to the Under-23s.

There, he continued to impress for Damien Johnson's side, scoring four times, to end the season with 16 goals in 36 outings.

Butterworth, who can also operate across the forward line, is yet to feature this season, having sustained a couple of injuries, but will be looking to build on his progress when he returns to fitness.
