WELL last week was pretty low on the entertainment value but I’m not going to start whinging about putting another point on the board.

Points make prizes – or in our case, help towards survival – and we may look back at that drab, dreary affair of few chances against Huddersfield at the end of the season as one of those key games.

It certainly won’t be featuring very high on many people’s ‘best of…’ the season lists.

Again, though it was a game which we ‘managed’ well and ensured that while we didn’t have any joy at the attacking end of the field, we were able to restrict the newly-promoted Terriers at the other.

It’s these kind of games that would have slipped away from us in seasons gone by and I think that’s a real sign of progress.

Our home games this season haven’t been vintage but we will click into our groove shortly I am sure.

The away day blues appear – at least in the opening three games – to have been kept at bay so if we can marry a consistency on the road with making Turf Moor the fortress it has been for the last few years under Sean Dyche then we’ll have nothing to worry about come May.

Talking of being on the road, we head to Goodison Park on Sunday for a showdown with Everton who, despite spending close to £100m, appear to be struggling.

I thought we were a tad unlucky to be undone there last season but it will certainly be interesting to see how we get on this time around.

I really like Ronald Koeman as a manager but he seems to be devoid of ideas at the minute on how to stop the rot.

They won against Bournemouth last time out but with a Europa League tie against Apollon Limassol tonight, that extra 90 minutes in the legs might work in our favour.

I’d be tempted to take the game to the Toffees and go two up top.

I know we’ve looked better for the most part with the three in centre midfield but if Everton play three at the back then Chris Wood is going to be a little lonely up there.

We’re well on course at the minute – I reckon a point a game keeps us up – so let’s live a little!
