Nick Pope 9 (Man of the Match)

Most of the saves Pope had to make at Anfield were ones he would probably expect to keep out, with the stop from Trent Alexander-Arnold his best of the afternoon. But on such a big occasion he produced a nerveless display and showed the Clarets are in safe hands while Tom Heaton is out.

Matt Lowton 8

Excellent positionally throughout the game and part of a really solid defensive display from the whole team.

James Tarkowski 9

Made superb blocks from Firmino and Milner and was rock solid throughout. Looks at home in this team now.

Ben Mee 9

Could very easily have won it with two late headed chances. Really assured display at the back from stand-in captain.

Stephen Ward 8

Excellent energy to get forward when he could in the first half. Stayed solid defensively.

Johann Berg Gudmundsson 7

Won the ball on a couple of occasions through an impressive workrate. Had little chance to influence game in final third.

Jack Cork 8

A real battling display from Cork who did well to limit the influence of Liverpool’s midfield on the game.

Steven Defour 7

Showed a willingness to stick his foot in and worked hard throughout the afternoon out of possession.

Robbie Brady 8

Involved in the goal and most of Burnley’s brightest attacking moments. Two good corners nearly set up a winner for Mee.

Scott Arfield 8

Took his goal superbly, showing a calm head to finish from inside the area. At home in advanced central position.

Chris Wood 7

A nuisance to Liverpool’s backline. Great awareness for the goal and battled hard on limited service.
