ROVERS reporter Rich Sharpe hands out his player ratings after the home defeat to AFC Wimbledon.

David Raya 6

Little he could with Kwesi Appiah’s goal, but did make a smart save from the striker in the second half.

Paul Caddis 6

Fired over in the second goal when the goal opened up for him. A little wasteful in possession, but did keep plugging away down the right.

Elliott Ward 6

Can appear clumsy at times, but did makes some strong challenges in the first-half.  Was a little too direct when in possession.

Charlie Mulgrew 6

Was troubled as much as he has been recently by the movement of Appiah.  Set pieces were uncharacteristically wasteful.

Derrick Williams 6

Made one excellent block to deny Dean Parrett in the second half, but was caught out of position for the Dons’ goal.

Elliott Bennett 5

Saw a number of first-half crosses come to nothing, and tried to drive the team forward when moved in to a central role, but misplaced several passes.

Corry Evans 6

Kept trying to probe and create in the central areas and looked the most likely Rovers player to come up with the killer pass. Fired a second half shot over the bar.

Richie Smallwood 5

Was unfortunate to see his block fall to the feet of Appiah in the lead up to his goal as he tried to make up for his loose pass.  Kept plugging away in the middle of the pitch, before being sacrificed in the second period.

Craig Conway 5

Could have done more to prevent the AFC Wimbledon goal, but should have claimed an assist with his cross for Dominic Samuel, before being forced off.

Marcus Antonsson 6

Hold-up play was effective in the first-half, but drifted out of the game in the second period before being substituted. Given few sights of goal.

Dominic Samuel 6

Missed Rovers’ best chance of the first half heading over a Craig Conway cross.  Saw several efforts blocked, but did link the play up well in the first-half.

Subs

Bradley Dack (for Conway, 32) 6

Looked better when moved in to a more central role, and went closest for Rovers as he saw his header saved on the line.

Danny Graham (for Smallwood, 55) 6

His physical presence aided the Rovers attack, but they looked to hit him with long balls a little too often.

Harry Chapman (for Antonsson, 68) 6

Could well have been utilised earlier, but had the beating of his man several times, though his delivery was somewhat inconsistent.
