JEFF Hendrick is 'touch and go' to face Crystal Palace on Sunday, but deadline day addition Nakhi Wells won't make his Burnley debut.

Hendrick has been sidelined recently with a groin injury but he could make his return at Turf Moor on Sunday, although boss Sean Dyche insists no chances will be taken with the midfielder, who saw Scott Arfield deputise for him in the 1-1 draw with Tottenham at Wembley before the international break.

"Jeff Hendrick is touch and go. He’s got an outside chance on this one, but we’ll have to be sensible with him," Dyche said.

"The rest of the lads have come back from international duty fit and well."

Jon Walters played twice for Ireland during the international break after the ankle ligament injury he picked up against Blackburn Rovers proved to be less serious than it could have been.

But Wells, a £5million arrival from Huddersfield Town, is still recovering from a minor operation and won't be included to face Palace on Sunday.

"I don't want to put a time on it, but he’ll not be ready immediately," Dyche said of his new striker.

"He's in good shape, he's on the grass, but commonsensically we need to give him time.

"Not only the healing period, because that's going well, but the general fitness. We like our players to operate at a high level of fitness, so he'll be given time to get up to speed."
