ROVERS have announced the signing of West Bromwich Albion midfielder Rekeem Harper on a season-long deal.

Harper is a highly-rated 17-year-old who made his Premier League debut for the Baggies earlier this month.

Tony Mowbray is understood to be a big admirer of the box-to-box midfielder who signed a two-year deal with West Brom before being allowed out on loan.

He becomes Rovers’ 11th summer signing, and their third central midfield addition of the window.

Rovers had hoped to secure the services of Harper earlier in the window, only for the teenager to make his senior debut for West Brom on the opening day of the Premier League season, coming on as a 70th-minute substitute in a 1-0 win over Bournemouth.

Harper previously featured in all three of the Baggies’ Checkatrade Trophy matches last season, and was also part of Tony Pulis' squad for this summer's Asia Trophy in Hong Kong, playing in the draw with Leicester City.

His last appearance for the club came as a substitute in the 3-1 victory over Accrington Stanley in the second round of the Carabao Cup last week.
