BURNLEY have completed the signing of full-back Phil Bardsley from Stoke City on a two-year deal.

The Clarets have paid an initial £750,000 for Bardsley, although that fee could rise to £1.5milliuon.

He is the fourth new addition of the summer at Turf Moor, following Charlie Taylor, Jon Walters and Jack Cork into the club.

Like Cork Bardsley is a former Burnley loanee, having made six appearances for the club in 2006 while he was at Manchester United, and he also brings a wealth of Premier League experience with him, with 246 top flight games under his belt.

And he is delighted to be joining a club he feels is on the up after Burnley secured their Premier League status last season.

"I’m delighted to be back,” he said. "It’s a club that’s going in the right direction with a fantastic manager and a great group of players which I’m looking forward to being part of.

"It’s a well-knitted group which did fantastically well last year and hopefully I can bring something to the squad.

"There’s still fire in the belly to achieve things in football and what a great chance. Coming back here and playing again at Turf Moor is going to be a great challenge and one I’m looking forward to.

"All the fundamentals are here, with the new training ground, the manager looking to kick on with the club and the players he’s brought in are very good players."

Bardsley, who has won 13 caps for Scotland, went on Stoke City's pre-season trip to Switzerland but did not travel on the Potters most recent outing to France as his move to Turf Moor approached.

He is Sean Dyche's second recruit from the bet365 Stadium this summer, and Bardsley said he had spoken to Jon Walters about the club before signing.

"I played with Jonny Walters and the brief chat I had with him, he couldn’t speak highly enough of the place," he said.

"I didn’t need much convincing but it’s always nice to get re-assurances from people like Jon.

"He says he’s loving it and the same as me, I just can’t wait to get going."
