ROVERS defender Ryan Nyambe has signed a new three-year deal with the club.

Nyambe has signed a new contract which runs until 2020 and has the option of a further 12 months, with his previous one set to expire next summer.

The 19-year-old has established himself in the Rovers first-team after making his debut in the EFL Cup tie at Leeds last September.

He has gone on to make 29 appearances, including all 15 in which head coach Tony Mowbray has taken charge.

Rovers were keen to reward Nyambe for that progression with the offer of a new deal to which he has agreed.

Nyambe will now be looking to kick on in League One next season, but will face a fight for his shirt following the arrival of fellow right-back Paul Caddis earlier this week.

The teenager joined Rovers at the age of 13, having moved to England from Namibia three years earlier, and has progressed through the ranks at the club to first-team level.

Nyambe signed his first professional deal with Rovers in 2015, having helped the Under-21s reach the Premier League Cup final, with that contract set to expire in 2018.
