GILLINGHAM boss Ady Pennock says he isn’t surprised by the speculation linking ‘talented boy’ Bradley Dack with a summer move away from the Priestfield.

The Lancashire Telegraph understands Rovers have made contact with the Gills and enquired about a move to bring Dack to Ewood Park this summer.

Pennock admits the League One club can’t stand in the way of the 23-year-old should a suitable offer be made for the attacking midfielder.

And responding to speculation surrounding Dack he told the Medway Messenger“I’m not surprised. He is a talented boy and I would be happy if nothing happens – I would be happy if he stayed here.

“If something does happen and someone comes in with X, Y and Z, then I don’t think as a club we can stand in his way but it has to be right for this club and it has to be right for Bradley.”

Gillingham turned down £2million for Dack from Bristol City in January 2016, the season in which he scored 15 goals, and laid on 11 assists, on the way to being named as League One player of the year for 2015/16.

He endured a leaner 2016/17, scoring just six times as the Gills avoided relegation on the final day, but was still named as the club’s young player of the year.

With 12 months left to run on his current deal Dack would be available for a fee significantly lower than the £2million they turned down 16 months ago, with Rovers remaining hopeful of landing the former Charlton Athletic apprentice.
