FORMER Rovers loanee Marvin Emnes has seen his time with Premier League side Swansea City come to an end.

Emnes joined the Swans permanently in the summer of 2014, after two previous loan spells, but was loaned out to Rovers at the start of the 2016/17 campaign.

Initially signed on a six month deal, Emnes returned to East Lancashire again in January after a brief spell back in South Wales, but couldn't help save Rovers from relegation.

He played 37 times for Rovers, scoring four goals, but was mainly used as a substitute during his second stint at Ewood Park under Tony Mowbray.

He first joined Swansea on loan in October 2010, when they were in the Championship, scoring twice in five appearances during a five game spell.  He returned to Middlesbrough, but was back with the Swans in February 2014, scoring once in nine appearances, which included a substitute outing in the Europa League draw against Napoli.

However, his last appearance for the Swans first-team would come in March 2016, though he did turn out for the Under-23s in the Checkatrade Trophy in August, prior to his arrival at Rovers.

A statement on Swansea's official website read: "Marvin Emnes also departs the club, with the Dutch forward seeing his third spell at the club come to an end.

"The 28-year-old had spent two loan stints with the Swans before joining permanently from Middlesbrough in July 2014.

"Emnes scored four goals in 37 appearances during a loan spell with Blackburn this season, which ended in relegation from the Championship for the Ewood Park club."
