90 MINUTES....that is all that separate Chorley FC from keeping alive their bid for promotion or suffering heartache on the final day of the league season.

Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Gloucester City saw the Magpies slip out of the top five but they host FC Halifax Town knowing a win will put them in in the play-offs.

Boss Jansen is calling on Magpies supporters to get behind the side in their final league game like they have done all season.

“The fans were unbelievable (against Gloucester).

“The lads in the dressing room were saying that they (the fans) keep you going.

“If it was quiet they may not have the same energy or run the extra yard or put their bodies on the line but from start to finish they were constantly singing.

“If they get behind the lads as they have done all season then I am sure they can get over the line and we will be in the play-offs.”

The former Blackburn Rovers ace has seen many highs in his career but he is looking forward to the challenge on Saturday.

He said: “I am relishing it and if it was easy it would not exciting. It is great, this is what football is about and the pressures and stresses of football makes you look forward to it.”

Jansen was satisfied with the display against Gloucester calling the second half display ‘the best of the season’ after rallying round when they were down to 10 men.

Jansen said: “It would have been nice to have got all three , but unfortunately the sending off has not helped us. It hurt the lads so early in the game and made it difficult.

“In terms of performance in the second half, we had a gameplan and stop them from play through us and it worked.

“On the balance of play we had a lot more clearer chances and for me we deserved to win.

“Their energy levels were great and they had a never-say-die attitude was fantastic.”

Jansen admitted that he had no problems with the penalty award in the first half.

He said: “I think Teaguey (Andy Teague) thought he could get it and was a split second too late and it was a penalty but the lads showed the character and great togetherness and if they do that like they have done all season we have no doubts of getting into the play-offs.”

Jansen changed things around with Jason Walker coming on and it was a move that paid off as he got the goal.

“He did, he caused problems and he is a clever player.

“It is difficult, Jase is a great player to come on and also brilliant when he starts.

“We just thought with the pitch conditions we would play a little bit more direct with Jack (Sampson) and Marcus (Carver) but we made some changes and it worked and we were even with 10 men the better team.”
