IT is now eight years since Burnley and Tottenham played out an incredible League Cup semi-final tie that produced a rollercoaster of emotions.

The Clarets, then in the Championship, were beaten 4-1 at White Hart Lane as Spurs appeared to have booked their place at Wembley ahead of the Turf Moor return.

But on a pulsating night in East Lancashire Burnley shot back to incredibly force extra-time.

Robbie Blake gave them the lead in the first half before Chris McCann struck 17 minutes from time to give the Clarets hope, and with just two minutes of normal time left Jay Rodriguez scored to put Burnley 3-0 up and take the tie to extra-time.

But just as Burnley were inching towards Wembley Roman Pavlyuchenko and Jermain Defoe scored the 118th and 120th minutes to break hearts at Turf Moor.
