SEAN Dyche has hailed the 'incredible' Burnley fans after more unwavering support from the travelling Clarets at the Stadium of Light.

And Dyche insists his side will need the support of their fans over the final nine games of the Premier League campaign.

Burnley's point at Sunderland moved them eight points clear of the bottom three heading into April and having played four successive away games they will return to Turf Moor for two home games in four days after the international break, with Tottenham and Stoke City the visitors.

"The fans have been incredible, home and away, and they have been a big part of our success for a long time. They know the team give everything, even if it doesn't go our way," said Dyche.

"There's no lack of effort or pride in the shirt, it's just maybe on any given day, we haven't played well.

"The fans have been terrific, and we're going to need them.

"It’s only a so-far story, we're in good shape, points on the board, when everyone thought we'd get nothing and be struggling. So we're going to need them.

"Nine games left, five at home, a lot of work to be done, but I'm sure they'll back us."

Burnley's point in the north east took their tally on the road to three this season but they still haven't claimed that first away win.

Dyche accepts that will be the story once again but he felt his side could have had a penalty late in the game when Sam Vokes stole the ball away from Jason Denayer before being pulled back, but the Wales striker stayed on his feet before getting a shot away which was saved by Jordan Pickford.

"It's slightly different because we haven't won a game and it's all about that, but I did think, Vokesy goes through at the end, he stays on his feet when he's getting tugged, and I don't want to open up that can of worms, but he strikes it and their keeper makes a great save," said Dyche.

"I thought that might have been the moment, our fans were right on top of that."
