ROVERS reporter Rich Sharpe hands out his player ratings after Rovers' were edged out in the FA Cup fifth round by Manchester United.
Man of the match: Marvin Emnes 8
Came up with the moment of quality Rovers needed in the first-half as he had a big hand in Graham’s opener.
Had gone close with an earlier effort which forced a strong save from Sergio Romero.
Provided a good link between midfield and attack for Rovers, while also helping out defensively by dropping deep.
Jason Steele 7
Excellent first-half stop to keep out Herrera. Rounded by Rashford for the United opener. Left exposed for Ibrahimovic’s winner.
Jason Lowe 7
Stuck his task well at right-back, and kept first Martial, and then, Rashford quiet down his side.
Darragh Lenihan 7
Got his body in the way of several goalbound shots, and was a commanding presence at the back.
Gordon Greer 7
Always likely to be troubled by the pace of Rashford, but made several important clearances. Rovers were glad to welcome him back to fitness.
Derrick Williams 7
Looked to be the man who played Zlatan onside for the winner, and was booked for a first-half foul on Ashley Young. Otherwise dependable at left-back.
Liam Feeney 7
Tireless work both in attack and defence, and gave Rovers a real outlet down the right as he troubled Darmian. Final ball inconsistent however, and failed to make the most of his promising openings.
Danny Guthrie 8
Tired as the game went on, but used the ball well throughout, and hardly gave it away all afternoon. A timely return to fitness for the midfielder who could play a big part in the coming weeks.
Charlie Mulgrew 7
Rovers look a much better side with him controlling things from the middle of the park. Terrific pass saw Conway go close in the first-half.
Craig Conway 7
Worked tirelessly down the left, as he had to contain Young who bombed on from full-back. Went close with a first-half strike, and saw Romero deny his shot early in the second.
Danny Graham 7
Led the line with distinction, and took the one chance that came his way with an excellent left-foot finish. Hobbled off in the second half.
Subs
Connor Mahoney 7 (for Feeney, 73)
Gave Darmian and Pogba the slip with some neat skills down the right, and saw Romero make something of a hash of his left-foot effort.
Anthony Stokes 6 (for Graham, 76)
Saw one effort expertly saved by Romero, before being flagged offside as he turned in the rebound.
Willem Tomlinson 6 (for Guthrie, 80)
Great moment for the midfielder as he made his Rovers debut on the big stage, and didn’t look overawed when he came on.
Not used: David Raya, Wes Brown, Ryan Nyambe, Stephen Hendrie
Opposition line up
Manchester United: Romero, Darmian, Smalling, Rojo, Young, Carrick, Herrera, Lingard (Pogba, 62), Mkhitaryan, Martial (Ibrahimovic, 62) Rashford (Mata, 89)
Subs: Henderson, Bailly, Shaw, Schweinsteiger
