BURNLEY crashed out of the FA Cup after being humbled by non-leaguers Lincoln City at Turf Moor.

In what will go down as the Clarets darkest day in the FA Cup since being beaten by Wimbledon 42 years ago a Sean Raggett header a minute from time condemned Sean Dyche’s side to a fifth round defeat.

It was a sluggish start from the Clarets and they were soon drawn into a battle by the National League leaders, who had the first good sight of goal, with Jack Muldoon blazing over from inside the area after being found by Nathan Arnold.

Burnley struggled to create a clear first half chance, with the best of them seeing Andre Gray’s shot across goal on his left foot, after he had been played in by Scott Arfield, saved by Paul Farman.

Farman was tested again six minutes before the break, holding Joey Barton’s cleanly struck volley from 18 yards after a good run down the right by Tendayi Darikwa.

In stoppage time James Tarkowski showed good control and footwork to turn in the area and tee up Arfield, who blazed a half-volley over from 16 yards.

Gray saw another good chance come and go six minutes after half-time, poking Barton’s free-kick wide from seven yards when unmarked.

A feisty game reached boiling point during the midway stage of the second half with Barton twice heavily involved. He hit the ground under a challenge from Rhead before shoving Terry Hawkridge in the face and escaping with a booking.

Gray’s miserable afternoon continued 10 minutes from time when he scuffed a wonderful chance after Tendayi Darikwa and Arfield had combined down the right.

Just as it looked like it was all back to Sincil Bank for a replay the Imps struck to send their travelling fans wild.

Sam Habergham’s corner was met by an umarked Luke Waterfall who headed it back across goal and Raggett’s effort was just over the line before Tom Heaton could clear.
