MATCH of the Day pundit Ian Wright said Jeff Hendrick could have no complaints about his sending off in Burnley's defeat at Watford.

Former Clarets striker Wright said Hendrick had to see red for his challenge on Jose Holebas, with the Watford left-back fortunate to avoid serious injury.

Wright also took a look at M'Baye Niang's collision with Stephen Ward, which came even earlier in the game than Hendrick's sixth minute dismissal.

"I think Niang's was a bit clumsy," said Wright. "There's no challenge, he's actually slipped. It could still have been quite dangerous but fortunately he didn't catch him (that bad). It was just over zealous I think.

"This one (Hendrick) is a red card. He's over the ball, it's very dangerous and I think he (Holebas) is very fortunate. That could have been really bad so I don't think there's any complaints about that."

Burnley were seventh on Match of the Day on Saturday night, with only West Brom's 1-0 win over Stoke City on later.

Wright's fellow pundit Alan Shearer praised Niang's performance and said he shouldn't have seen a second yellow card for celebrating his goal with the Watford fans.

"It's a great ball in for Troy Deeney to get his goal and it's a good header," said Shearer, "but I think this one is an even better header from Niang, he guides it in to the corner. It's a superb header.

"Sean Dyche was complaining about getting a yellow card for going in with the fans. You don't want to see a yellow card for that."
