Tom Heaton 8
Nothing he could do for the goals. Made a couple of solid saves and one exceptional second half save from Deeney.
Matt Lowton 5
Deeney pulled away to try and target him and he had a tough game. Watford had a lot of joy down his side in first half.
Michael Keane 6
Twice came close to scoring but not at his best defensively and saw Niang get in front of him for second goal.
Ben Mee 6
Not at his best but used the ball second half, when there wasn’t much defending to do.
Stephen Ward 7
Most of Watford’s threat came down the other flank. Got forward well and had to do a lot of work out wide.
George Boyd 6
Workrate handy when down to 10. Not much going forward, stumbled in a good position first half.
Joey Barton 8 (Man of the Match)
Like he’s never been away from the Premier League. Had a couple of efforts from distance, one that led to the penalty, was tenacious in midfield and stood up to a physical threat from an aggressive Watford side. Let’s hope the FA show leniency.
Jeff Hendrick 4
Only real involvement was the tackle and it was a rash one. Gave Michael Oliver no option.
Scott Arfield 7
Moved into centre midfield after Hendrick’s dismissal and did well there. One second half effort.
Ashley Barnes 8
Fluffed a good late chance to snatch a point but work rate was terrific and he gave Watford’s defence a real examination.
Andre Gray 7
Made some good runs which went unfound, but it found tough when playing out wide.
