SAM Gallagher feels Blackburn Rovers’ recent upturn in form is only helping to grow the good feeling around the club.

The on-loan Southampton man says enthusiasm and hard work never dropped during Rovers’ poor start to the season, but he’s glad to see the players now reaping the rewards for that effort with their points return.

Rovers made it five games unbeaten at home, and 18 points from their last 12 games, as Danny Graham’s penalty earned them a point against Huddersfield Town.

The run has helped Rovers climb out of the Championship relegation zone as they look to recover from a desperately disappointing start that saw them earn just two points from their opening seven games.

And after putting another point on the board against the Terriers, Gallagher said: “There has always been a good feeling around the place.

“There has never been a lack of enthusiasm and willingness to work.

“We are just looking to keep doing what we’re doing and I’m sure the points will continue to come.”

Rovers have picked up two wins and three draws from their last five games at Ewood, having lost three of their opening five matches on their own patch.

That bodes well for Owen Coyle’s men who have back-to-back home games against promotion chasing Brighton and Reading after Saturday’s televised clash away at neighbours Preston.

And Gallagher is keen to see the unbeaten home run extended.

“Everyone is feeling confident coming in to these home games and that’s what you want,” the 21-year-old said.

“Every game at home that you go unbeaten you get a better feeling and better support from everyone.

“To keep the unbeaten home run going is only to benefit us in the future.”

Rovers were behind early on Saturday, this time through Kasey Palmer’s sixth minute header, having fallen behind inside the first minute of their last home game against Brentford.

The visitors could have led by more before Rovers got themselves back in the game through Graham’s fifth of the season as he converted from the penalty spot after Gallagher was fouled by Michael Hefele.

Huddersfield went in to the game sixth in the table, having also led the Championship for many of the early weeks of the season.

And Gallagher felt the opposition, as well as the start Rovers made to the game, meant it was a good point for his side.

He added: “If you looked at it before the game I think you would say it was a good result because they are doing well in the table and they played well.

“So to take a point is a positive.

“You would expect any team away from home to start fast and they got that early break.

“We maybe weren’t at it for the first 20 minutes but we definitely showed a lot of character to come back from 1-0 behind which we have done numerous times this season.

“It was definitely a positive to come back the way we did.

“We needed a little something to get us all going and it was good to get the penalty and I was happy to see Danny put it away.”
