Owen Coyle’s side, who came from behind in both matches to take the points, welcome Sheffield Wednesday to Ewood Park tonight before heading to Birmingham City on Saturday.

And midfielder Guthrie, speaking after the impressive victory over the Rams, said: “It is a massive win, we spoke about kicking on after getting the monkey off our backs with that first win last week.

“I felt that we fully deserved to win and it shows a bit of character from the lads.

“It is important to get back-to-back wins together in this league, you can shoot up a few places.

“We’ve been behind in both the Derby and the Rotherham games and we’ve come back quickly after conceding so it shows another side to our game.

“To go behind was a blow but the lads have got loads of character and we hit back quickly which was very important.

“We scored two great goals, the first one on the break and the second one had 20-odd passes in there, so it was very good goal.

“Then at the end we were solid and didn’t really look like we were going to concede and we felt comfortable closing the game out.

“That is two wins on the bounce in the league and we need to push on now.

“We’ve got two more games before the international break and we’ll be looking for maximum points in both.”
