WELL last week didn’t quite go as I expected it despite a promising start.

Sean Dyche changed personnel and formations at Leicester City and I for one thought that was the right thing to do.

But ‘four minutes of madness’ – as Dyche described it – either side of half-time ultimately proved our undoing at the Premier League champions.

There’s no doubt that the 3-0 defeat means Monday’s home game against Watford is now a must-win.

You might think it’s a little too early to start talking about must-win games, and I’m not one to start panicking, but I think it’s a must-win in as much as it will provide a timely confidence boost.

Watford are coming into the game on the back of a couple of great wins over West Ham United and Manchester United, so it’s not going to be easy, but I think the Hornets are going to be in that bottom group of eight or 10 that will be battling it out for survival.

North of the border and things don’t seem to be going well for Joey Barton at Rangers.

A 5-1 defeat to Celtic, a training ground bust-up and a three-week ban looks like it might have brought a premature end to his short Ibrox career.

I think a few people raised eyebrows when he decided to exit stage left from Turf Moor and head to Glasgow, but the pull of the Old Firm was understandable.

I think it’s fair to say that things hadn’t started that well before the derby defeat.

His performances on the pitch were being questioned by the pundits and I think Joey’s romanticised vision of life in Scotland was always going to be someway short of his expectations.

There’s been plenty of talk of a move back south, but I’m not sure we’ll see him in a claret and blue shirt again. He decided in the summer that it was time to move on and I think we’re in a position where we wouldn’t be able to offer him what he needs.

I think Joey’s biggest problem is that he just wants to be loved.

We loved him here at Turf Moor and I’m sure if he could strike up the same rapport with the Ibrox fans – and his teammates – then he may be able to rescue it there.
