BLACKBURN Rovers have signed Scotland international Charlie Mulgrew on a free transfer.

The 30-year-old, who can play at left-back, centre-back and in the centre of midfield, has signed a three-year deal after leaving Scottish champions Celtic in the summer.

Mulgrew started his career at Celtic and played for Dundee United, Wolves, Southend United and Aberdeen before returning to the Glasgow giants in July 2010.

The free-kick specialist went on to win eight major domestic honours at Celtic Park and won the SPFA Players’ Player of the Year, the SFWA Footballer of the Year, and the SPL Player of the Year awards in 2011-12.

Mulgrew, who has 24 caps for Scotland, scored 30 goals in 205 appearances for Celtic.

He becomes Rovers boss Owen Coyle’s 11th summer signing.

Coyle is still attempting to add to his squad before the summer transfer window shuts at 11pm.
