SAM Vokes and Wales are through to the quarter-finals of Euro 2016 after beating Corry Evans and Northern Ireland in this afternoon’s round of 16 clash at the Parc des Princes.

A 75th-minute own goal from Gareth McAuley earned Wales, managed by former Blackburn Rovers defender Chris Coleman, a 1-0 victory in Paris.

The Northern Ireland centre-back turned the ball into his own net following a brilliant cross from Gareth Bale.

Wales, for whom Burnley striker Vokes led the line before being replaced by Hal Robson-Kanu in the 55th minute, will now face Belgium or Hungary in the last eight on Friday.

But Northern Ireland, for whom Rovers midfielder Corry Evans played the entire match, will now return home.
