BLACKBURN Rovers and Mansfield Town have agreed to cancel their Field Mill friendly on Tuesday, July 26 after the clubs were drawn to play each other, at the same venue, in the English Football League Cup.
Rovers will travel to the home of League Two Mansfield for the first-round tie in the week commencing August 8.
It will be the first competitive meeting between the clubs since April 5, 1980.
That day a goal from Duncan McKenzie secured a seventh straight success for Howard Kendall’s Rovers, who would go to win promotion from Division Three.
