SLAVEN Bilic has warned his West Ham United side they will be knocked out of the FA Cup by Blackburn Rovers if they drop their standards by ‘five per cent’.

West Ham set-up the last-16 Ewood Park showdown with a thrilling extra-time home victory over Premier League rivals Liverpool in their fourth-round replay on Tuesday night.

Hammers boss Bilic hailed the 2-1 win as one of the ‘greatest nights and games’ in the club’s history given its dramatic nature and given it could be the last cup match to be played at Upton Park.

But he believes West Ham’s hopes of lifting the trophy in their final season before moving to the Olympic Stadium could be dashed by Rovers.

Bilic said: “Make no mistake we will have to be on top of our game to have any sort of chance because otherwise we will go out there.

“Blackburn are a big club, it’s an FA Cup game, and they can make their own history.

“They are capable of beating us if we are less than five per cent than we were tonight.”

Paul Lambert is hoping the visit of the Hammers on Sunday week will allow him to experience a full house at Ewood for the first time.

Rovers’ average attendance in the Championship this season is 13,760 and the last time they had a sell-out was for last season’s quarter-final replay defeat to Liverpool.

But, in an effort to draw a big crowd against West Ham, the club has kept ticket prices down in all areas of the ground to £20 for adults, £12 for over-65s and 18-21-year-olds, and £5 for under-17s.

And Rovers boss Lambert, whose team won 2-1 at Newport County in the third round and then 3-0 in the fourth round at Oxford United, said: “It’s going to be a good game for us.

“We’ve played Newport and Oxford and they were two potential banana skins. Newport was a tough one because of the state of the pitch and Oxford had a brilliant result against Swansea City in the previous round.

“We’ve got our reward of a Premiership club coming to our own back yard. Whoever we got, whether it was West Ham or Liverpool, it was going to be tough.

“But I’m looking forward to Ewood being full, for sure.”

It will be the 11th FA Cup meeting between Rovers and the Hammers.

The most recent came in January 2006 when West Ham won a fourth-round clash at Upton Park 4-2 on route to the final, where they were beaten by Liverpool on penalties at the Millennium Stadium.

The Hammers avenged that heartbreaking loss on Tuesday, after which Bilic said: “I’m so proud and happy for my players and proud of everyone that has any connection with the club because it is a great night for West Ham.

“Okay, it is only for the last 16 but it was a late night kick-off, it was against Liverpool, it’s our last season at Upton Park, it’s over 120 minutes and we scored with a great header in the last second of the game despite having injuries.

“We overcame all of that so that is why this game will go down as one of the greatest nights and games in West Ham’s history.”
