BLACKBURN Rovers have announced that directors Alan Myers and Mike Cheston will take up a dual role to cover the duties of departed managing director Derek Shaw.

The club has confirmed that it has no plans to bring in a new managing director to replace Shaw at ‘this stage’.

Instead commercial and communications director Myers and finance director Cheston will work closely with manager Paul Lambert and director Ghandi Babu, who is based in India, as are Rovers owners Venky’s.

Myers said: “Now is a time for unity and to focus on moving the club forward. There is a fantastic staff at the football club and together with the supporters our goal is clear.

“We have a manager who is determined to take this club to where it should be and it is our job now to support him and create the best conditions for him to achieve that.

“I appreciate the owners giving me this opportunity. There is a real sense of togetherness within the coaching staff and the players and that bodes well for the future.

“The tremendous backing we receive from the fans both at home and away cannot be underestimated and your continued support will be crucial. As such, we are delighted to announce reduced ticket prices for our upcoming FA Cup fifth-round tie, of just £20 for adults, £12 for concessions and £5 for juniors.”

That tie, at home to West Ham United or Liverpool, will take place on Sunday, February 21 (2pm kick-off) and will be shown live on BT Sport.

Cheston added: “I’m excited by the challenge ahead. It is a terrific opportunity to be a part of something special.

“Alan and I have worked together for a good while now and I’m looking forward to continuing that.”

Rovers’ Championship clash at Derby County has been put back by 24 hours and will now go-ahead on Wednesday, February 24 (7.45pm kick-off).
