BURNLEY will once again be without Dean Marney for tomorrow’s Championship clash with Hull City at Turf Moor.

The former Tigers midfielder hasn’t featured since coming on as a late substitute in the 4-1 win over Derby County on January 25 due to a calf problem.

And while he has returned to training with the rest of the first team squad at Gawthorpe, the fixture with his former team will come too soon for him.

Clarets boss Sean Dyche said: “Deano is still not quite right, he’s been out there on the grass and he is back working with the physios but we don’t think he’s quite right to be in the squad.

“After Saturday we’ve got a free midweek so we hope he comes back into the thinking then but it’s too risky for this Saturday.”

Dyche could also use the loan market to strengthen his squad in the coming weeks, having failed to land a winger during the transfer window.

“There’s a couple of maybes, but nothing’s changed yet,” he said.

“We’ll be active if appropriate, we don’t bring players in for the sake of it.”
