PAUL Lambert was not unhappy that he did not add to his Blackburn Rovers squad before the closure of the emergency loan window last night.

Lambert re-signed Doneil Henry on loan from West Ham United on Tuesday but, after scouring the market, the defender proved to be his only capture of the week.

Speaking before the window shut, the Rovers boss said: “I want to give everybody a chance to see what they can do and we’ve got a big enough squad anyway.

“Would it needle me if we didn’t bring anybody in? Not really.

“The lads have done ever so well for us and we have ones who haven’t played or even made the bench.”

Lambert has been pleased by the way that Henry, who has been brought in to provide competition at centre-back and right-back, has settled back into life at Rovers.

Lambert said: “He looks great. He’s been very good in training and, while he’s only just arrived here, he knows the football club really well.

“Part of the reason to bring him here is that he can do it in both areas (centre-back and right-back).

“I’m delighted he’s here and he’s not looked out of place by any stretch.

“He’s set his stall out really well in the first few days he’s been here.”

Captain Grant Hanley and centre-back partner Shane Duffy will miss the trip to Bristol City on Saturday week if they are booked in tomorrow’s Ewood Park clash with Sheffield Wednesday.

But should they escape a fifth caution of the season tomorrow then the threat of suspension that has been hanging over their heads will be lifted.

As the cut-off date for five bookings in the Football League is this Monday.
