LEONARDO DiCaprio is John Coleman’s favourite actor.

If there was to be a film about his life he would want Robert Carlyle playing the lead role.

Neither of them star in the Hunt for Red October, but the title of the 1990s thriller sums up exactly what the Accrington Stanley manager wants.

“Historically we haven’t had good Octobers. We’ve got to have a good October now,” said the Reds boss, who celebrated a fourth win on the spin after beating Yeovil Town 2-1 at home on Tuesday.

“I thought it was our best of the season to be honest. Some of the football we played was breathtaking, but what really impressed me was the appetite the players had for the game..

“We spoke about them crawling off the pitch at the end and they did.

“We put pressure on Yeovil from the first minute to the last, we closed them down at every opportunity.

“We’re disappointed with the goal we conceded but even if they’d have scored late on I couldn’t have complained about the performance. I thought they were magnificent to a man.”

Stanley registered their best start to a Football League season since 1956/57 with the win, which moved them up to fourth.

Ahead of tomorrow’s visit of top seven rivals Oxford United, Coleman says they are confident, but not complacent.

“There’s nothing handed out at this time of year,” he said.

“All we can do is keep playing the way we are playing. We’ve spoken about not resting on our laurels every time we have a chance to take a step forward.

“In the past we have maybe fluffed our lines a little bit, but on Tuesday there was no way our players were going to be denied three points. They battled, they fought, the grafted, and the pleasing thing was at the end of it they passed it. They passed it ever so well and made some great chances.

“In the end you start watching it as a fan because you’re enjoying it that much.”

He added: “We’ve got another smashing home game coming up against a tough side in Oxford and that might be a measure of where we are in the league when we play them.”

Coleman wants to swim, not sink like DiCaprio’s Titanic.

When it comes to points, like Carlyle, he wants The Full Monty.
