NEW York City is one of the most famous, most populated and most visited cities in the world. But New York Stadium is an unknown quantity for Burnley.

Not only will tonight be the Clarets’ first visit to the ground so named in homage to the area of Rotherham where it is based - built on the site of a foundry that made New York’s distinctive fire hydrants - but it is a venture into the unknown after a change of manager.

Steve Evans left the club on Monday after three years in charge due to a difference of opinion between himself and the board as to which direction the club should take, despite back-to-back wins.

Eric Black has been placed in temporary charge, and is expected to ignite a response from the players.

But Burnley defender Michael Keane does not fear the Millers, with the Clarets having their own agenda to bounce back from a first home loss, to Reading.

“I think it’s going to be a tough game because they’re going in to it off some good results. Obviously the manager has left for one reason or another and sometimes that can fire up the crowd and it can get the players going,” said top scorer Keane.

“We’ll analyse how they play but you never know what to expect when a new manager comes in. It’s one of those where you might just have to adapt on the night.

“But I’m confident if we’re up for the fight and play well then we’ll have too much for them.

“We’re all disappointed with the Reading result but apart from the first 10 minutes I thought we played well. We’ve trained really well this week, really hard, and we’re ready for the game.”

Andre Gray could make his return after a one-game absence with a hamstring strain, while there could also be a place in the line-up for Joey Barton, after he impressed in his debut from the bench at Turf Moor on Saturday.

“He’s been brilliant since he came in. He’s a great person to have around the changing room - always making people laugh - and he’s a great talker on the pitch as well,” said Keane.

“He’s got a lot of experience and we’re really happy to have him here. If he plays then I’m sure he’ll do a good job.”

Of Gray’s chances, manager Sean Dyche said: “Andre Gray’s had a couple of days on the grass and on Thursday with us. Depending on any reaction tomorrow we’re thinking he’d be available.

“Behind that it’s just knocks and bruises. Fredi Ulvestad has had a good week and and played on Monday to get a second 90 minutes into him. His fitness has been good he’s just been suffering slightly with a problematic ankle problem which has settled down now after it had niggled away.

“Dean Marney’s making a good recovery after a minor setback but he’s not close yet. Kevin Long has had more minutes.

“We’re coming together as a squad and the deeper element of it with the longer term injuries are also coming back to the squad quite quickly now so we’re looking forward to their return as well.”

Meanwhile, both goalkeeper Tom Heaton and midfielder Scott Arfield are in line for their 100th Burnley appearances tonight.
