ACCRINGTON Stanley defender Matt Pearson believes the Reds must show more consistency ahead of tonight’s Johnstone Paint Trophy clash against League One side Bury.
The Reds drew 1-1 against Northampton in League Two on Saturday having dominated for large parts of the game before hanging on for a point in the face of some late Cobblers pressure.
And Pearson, a summer arrival from FC Halifax Town, wants his side to improve their home form, starting with tonight’s derby tie.
“We need to manage the game better, we need to be more consistent and we need to get more wins, especially at home,” said the defender.
“We need to keep clean sheets as well.”
Speaking about the weekend draw the 22-year-old added: “We had a number of chances early on – Terry (Gornell) came close, Matt Crooks had a header and Adam (Buxton) hit the post.
“On another day we could have gone in 3-0 up but instead we went in 1-0 down at half-time.
“Obviously the gaffer wasn’t happy at half-time as he hates losing.
“We got back in to it with a penalty but we tired in the last 15 minutes and could have lost the game.”
