BRIGHTON & Hove Albion boss Chris Hughton believes Blackburn Rovers’ ‘team ethic’ will be the biggest danger to his high-flying side today.

The Seagulls are third in the Championship after an unbeaten start to the season, but Hughton is expecting a difficult test against Rovers, regardless of whether Jordan Rhodes is fit to play.

“They have showed a really good work ethic,” the former Newcastle United manager said of Gary Bowyer’s side.

“Whether it be [Ben] Marshall or [Craig] Conway, they have got good, strong players in wide areas.

“I’m not sure which way they will go up front, whether [Jordan] Rhodes will be fit.

“Certainly if he is, then he is always a threat but they base their game on a really good team ethic.

“[Danny] Guthrie in midfield is a creative player, if not [Jason] Lowe or [Hope] Akpan, who are really solid players in there.”

Brighton are back at the Amex after two league games on the road and Hughton has challenged his players to put in a strong performance in front of their own fans, having beaten Nottingham Forest 1-0 on the opening weekend.

“There’s always more responsibility and onus on the home team to get a result,” he said.

“For me it doesn’t really matter how you get a result, but our form has been quite good.

“Probably out of the three league games, the Forest game is the one we deserved to win.

“Our two games on the road could have gone either way.

“We had really good periods in both games and had to defend well.

“Our last game at home was a good performance and we’ll have to be somewhere near that to get a result.”
