BURNLEY have made Chris Long the latest addition to their strike force, signing the former Everton forward for an undisclosed fee.

Youngster Long, who spent time on loan at Brentford last season, has penned a three-year deal at Turf Moor, with a further year’s option in the club’s favour.

Although Long was technically out of contract at Goodison the Toffees had offered him a new deal.

The England Under 20 international rejected the terms in order to go in search of first team football, after impressing on loan with Brentford last season.

“I’m absolutely buzzing to have officially signed and I can’t wait to get started,” he told www.burnleyfc.com.

“I can’t thank Everton enough for what they did for me, but I think it’s time to start a new chapter in my life and I can’t wait to get started with Burnley.

“I’ve proved that I can score goals in the Championship and I only had two starts. I would have started more without injuries and I’m looking forward to scoring goals for Burnley.

“I’m fresh, young and eager to succeed to be honest and I just want to show the Burnley fans what I can do.”

During his development with Everton he became known for his speed, agility and composure in front of goal.

Long scored his first professional goal while on loan to Milton Keynes Dons in the 2013-14 season.

He went on to make his senior Everton debut in a Europa League group game against FC Krasnodar, but joined Brentford on loan in January 2015.

An initial one-month spell was extended to the end of the season, and Long scored four goals in 11 games to help the Bees reach the play-off semi-finals, which they lost to Middlesbrough.

Long progressed through the youth ranks at Everton from the age of five, and has represented England at U16, U17, U18 and U20 level.

Burnley boss Sean Dyche, who moved quickly to sign Belgian striker Jelle Vossen, will welcome the attacking boost after losing Danny Ings to Liverpool and Ashley Barnes to a cruciate knee ligament injury.

But he remains on the lookout for defensive reinforcements following Jason Shackell’s move to Derby County.

Cisak’s switch to Leyton Orient, where he spent the last three months of last season on loan, has left a vacancy in the goalkeeper ranks.

It could be filled by Kirkland, who yesterday trained with the Clarets at Gawthorpe.

The former England goalkeeper is a free agent after leaving Sheffield Wednesday.

Cisak has signed a two-year deal with Orient.
