DARRAGH Lenihan has signed a new one-year deal at Blackburn Rovers – and, in a further boost, Ryan Nyambe has put pen to paper on his first professional contract with the club.

Lenihan, 21, broke into Gary Bowyer’s senior side at the back end of last season after an impressive loan spell at eventual League Two champions Burton Albion.

The Republic of Ireland U21s international, who can play in midfield as well as defence, said: “It’s taken a while but I’m very pleased to get my contract signed and sealed and I’m looking forward to the season ahead.”

Nyambe, meanwhile, has signed a three-year professional deal.

The right-back, 17, was an unused substitute for Rovers’ first team on two occasions last season, including the FA Cup quarter-final replay with Liverpool at Ewood Park.
