MATT Kilgallon and Lee Williamson are staying at Blackburn Rovers.

Rovers have confirmed that option clauses in the duo’s current deals, which were set to run out next month, have been activated.

That means centre-back Kilgallon and midfielder Williamson will remain under contract at the club for a further 12 months until June 30, 2016.

Rovers, in announcing their retained list, have confirmed that midfielder David Dunn and goalkeeper Paul Robinson, as well as defender Yann Songo’o and midfielder Paulo Jorge, will be released once their current contracts expire on June 30, 2015.

Dunn announced last month that his 14th season at the club would be his last while it has long been thought that fellow former England international Robinson, who has not played for the club since losing his place between the posts to Jason Steele in September, would be leaving Ewood Park after seven years.

Rovers have also confirmed that striker Josh King and versatile youngster Darragh Lenihan, who broke into the first team at the end of the season, have been offered new contracts.

Midfielder Chris Taylor and striker Luke Varney, as they are over the age of 24, are free to talk to clubs once their current deals run out next month.

But Rovers boss Gary Bowyer has already indicated he would like Taylor to sign a new contract.

Varney, meanwhile, is facing six months on the sidelines with a ruptured Achilles tendon after being stretched off playing for Ipswich Town, where he has spent the last three months on loan, in their Championship play-off semi-final against Norwich City last Saturday.

New contracts have also been offered to U21s duo Ryan Crump and Anton Forrester and scholars Jack Doyle, Mark Edgar, Sam Joel, Sam Lavelle, Hyuga Tanner, Connor Thomson and Luke Wall.

Leaving Rovers at the end of their present contracts, along with Dunn, Robinson, Songo’o and Jorge, will be U21s players Bradley Bauress, Kellen Daly and Sam Jones, in addition to scholars Adrian Edo Martin, George Pierce, Cameron Scott and Callum Williams.

An option clause in U21s midfielder David Carson’s current deal has been activated.

That means, like Kilgallon and Williamson, Carson will be tied to Rovers until next summer.
