BLACKBURN Rovers boss Gary Bowyer is hopeful Josh King will be fit for selection within the next week.

But Bowyer admits it is ‘touch and go’ whether captain Grant Hanley and Chris Taylor will play again this season.

King has not kicked a ball after hurting his hamstring four minutes after coming on in the 2-1 home loss to Norwich City on February 24.

The striker, one of the stars of Rovers’ run to the FA Cup quarter-finals, returned to full training ahead of the Roses showdown with Leeds United two weeks ago.

However on the eve of the Elland Road encounter King, who is out of contract in the summer, suffered a setback.

But, while tomorrow’s home clash with Nottingham Forest will come too soon, the Norway international should force his way into contention for the visit of Millwall to Ewood Park on Tuesday or, failing that, the trip to Huddersfield Town on Saturday.

Bowyer said: “Kingy was back out on the grass today and we’re certainly hoping he will feature on Tuesday or if not the following Saturday.”

But Bowyer could not put a timescale on when defender Hanley, who has been sidelined since the Norwich game with a calf problem, and midfielder Taylor, who has missed the last four matches after injuring his groin, will return.

“Will they play again this season? It’s a good question,” said Bowyer, who should have David Dunn and Alex Baptiste back before the end of the campaign.

“Possibly, possibly not. It really is that touch and go so we’ll have to assess them throughout the remaining weeks.

“Grant’s is an ongoing problem from his calf to his shin. It’s really frustrating.”
