TOMMY Spurr could be Blackburn Rovers’ sole absentee for Saturday’s home game against Charlton Athletic.

Centre-back Matt Kilgallon (knee) and winger Josh King (back) will return to the Rovers squad for the first time in more than two months.

And they are set to be joined by striker Chris Brown (knee) and midfielder Chris Taylor (ill) after they sat out last Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at Brentford.

Midfielder Tom Cairney is rated as ‘touch and go’.

But if Cairney passes a late fitness test Spurr would be the only player unavailable for selection to Rovers boss Gary Bowyer.

A serious groin injury sustained on the eve of the Championship opener at home to Cardiff City means the left-back has yet to kick a ball this season.

But, after going under the knife, Spurr could be back in first-team contention by the end of the year.

“Tommy joined in for the first time yesterday,” said Bowyer.

“He only did a bit but that is pleasing following his minor operation, so hopefully he could be back over the Christmas period.”

Should Cairney miss his fourth match in a row tomorrow Bowyer confirmed he would certainly be back in time for the Boxing Day derby at Bolton Wanderers.
