Andy Lochhead: Jutkiewicz and Dyche can inspire famous Burnley win

Lukas Jutkiewicz celebrates scoring in pre-season

Lukas Jutkiewicz celebrates scoring in pre-season

I’VE got a funny feeling about Monday – in a good way – after watching the Clarets for the first time in their final friendly.

I was quite impressed with them, especially the new faces who I hadn’t seen kick a ball until then.

They came across well, as did the team. The new lads have gelled and they look like one unit playing for each other.

The prospects are a lot better than I expected. The manager has strengthened in the right areas with the right people.

He is good at that.

He is also good at tapping into potential and getting good results, like with Lukas Jutkiewicz if his pre-season form is anything to go by.

He looks as if he will score goals this season. He is good in the air, can score with his head and his movement is good for his size.

I think he will be a big asset, and the manager will continue to work with him, and the rest of the squad to bring the best out of them.

Sean Dyche is a good disciplinarian. He wants his players to do what he wants them to, but he wants them to enjoy themselves as well and he brings that into the team; enjoy things when they’re good, and when they’re not so good dig deep.

That all makes him the type of manager that players want to play for, and it’s obvious they respect him. They don’t want to let him down as much as not wanting to let themselves down.

The Sky Sports cameras are coming and looking for an upset on Monday night, and I don’t see why that can’t happen.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s going to be a hard game, but hopefully things can go our way and we get the breaks at the right time.

If we could get a point, or points, it would be a hell of a start.

And I agree with Kieran Trippier when he said it’s a good time to play them. You have to play all the teams at some point, so why not at the start?

Chelsea have had an indifferent pre-season in terms of results and players filtering back from the World Cup at different times and hopefully that can work to our advantage.

We’ve got to be positive. Bring it on!
