SEAN Dyche has not ruled out adding to his squad before the dawn of a new Premier League era for Burnley.

The Clarets boss has welcomed six new faces over the summer, but said there was still scope for more.

West Brom defender Craig Dawson and Nottingham Forest midfielder Henri Lansbury have continued to be linked with the club, despite having bids for both turned down.

But while Dyche is finalising preparations for their opening Premier League fixture, at home to Chelsea on Monday night, he is also keeping a careful eye on the transfer market.

Lansbury did not feature for Nottingham Forest when their season kicked off last weekend, but that was down to an existing knee injury and not any movement in the market at that time.

Forest have since made the former Arsenal man a new, improved contract offer.

But Lansbury still seems set on leaving, while Dyche said he felt he was making progress on certain targets.

“We’re close on a couple of things,” he said, although erred on the side of caution.

“We will see. There are no guarantees. We’re not a club that can throw money at every situation.

“We have to be wise and prudent to make sure the club still has a competitive edge to the team but it has to be something that doesn’t undermine the future of the club.”

Forest boss Stuart Pearce has confirmed the club has offered Lansbury a contract and remains hopeful the midfielder will stay at the City Ground.

“We have formulated a contract extension offer for him and we put that to him on Wednesday,” said Pearce.

“We are hoping that he will extend his contract at this club.

“He has two years left to run, so we are in no manic pressure to offer him a new deal. But we feel it is right and proper that we do offer him a contract.

“I spoke to the chairman and he is quite happy for us to offer a new contract to Henri and his agent. We have done so and I hope Henri will turn around now and say ‘do you know what, I like this manager and I am going to stay here.”

Meanwhile, West Brom boss Alan Irvine believes Dawson is ready for the new Premier League season and is confident the former Rochdale man is settled at The Hawthorns.

Irvine said: “Craig had a difficult first few weeks. He trained well, no problems there. Away from training he wanted to know what was happening with him but he’s not knocked on the door for a couple of weeks now so I know he’s settled and he’s ready.

“It’s always possible something will happen before the deadline but it’s certainly quietened down.

“Maybe the club have realised they do not want to sell Craig but it will only happen if they get an offer the board can’t refuse – but that’s not happening at the moment. Craig has got his head around that and we’re comfortable with that.”

However, even if deals do not get done in time to face Chelsea, Dyche has confidence in the group he has got.

“We’re ready, we’re able, we’re certainly mentally and physically motivated to go and deliver performances. Where that takes us, we’ll only know once the season gets off and running,” he said.

Barring long-term casualty Sam Vokes, who is recovering from surgery to repair cruciate knee ligament damage, Dyche is so far boasting an otherwise fully fit squad to face Jose Mourinho’s men on Monday.

“We’re in good shape,” he said.

“Sam’s still a way away yet but he’s doing really well. There’s no timescale because we wouldn’t do that to a player with that type of injury, but he’s going well.

“He’s been out on the grass doing very light training with the physiotherapists.

“He’s in great spirits and he’s a great character. He’s someone who’s done fantastically well, and will do again.”

"West Brom defender Craig Dawson and Nottingham Forest midfielder Henri Lansbury have continued to be linked with the club, despite having bids for both turned down. " As a lad I used to link myself to Cindy Crawford all the time. I never married her.

Tatts, it's just boring and predictable. Some just cannot come to terms with us being in the Premier League and to knock us at every available opportunity makes them feel better. They are like those little kids that run up behind you, give you a kick and then run away shouting obscenities from a distance. Big brave blues, not.

What on earth are you on about Nobby? We're not the same person but why does it matter so much to you ether way??

By the way, you have still to back up your assertion that Premier League income doubles this season and you will recieve £120m rather than the £60m which Cardiff got last year. From what I saw last Friday, it didn't really do much good and they have a chairman that spends it on the club. And you'll have a new manager in place by then t'boot.

Not again? We tried this one last season, and we ended up looking like a right pair of numpty's. Let's not be foolish here, we can hope and pray that Dyche leaves them but sadly its just not going to happen. He's made for them as much as it hurts me to admit it, and it shows with him committing to a new 3 year contract recently. If only our club had such pulling power instead of having to over promote our under 12's coach to club manager. You reap what you sow in this game, best to wind your neck my friend.

Thank you for that. Most enlightening. You win the prize for the lowest intelligence in Bumley. And that takes some doing. Well done.
Especially when I am in the same borough as you, you ferkin bell end with your constant bulls hit.
For the love of God, have sex with something.

Bad advice to give to Tom, he often frequents farmyards.
