FORMER Burnley winger Keith Treacy could make his debut for Barnsley this afternoon.

The Irishman has penned a two-year contract at Oakwell this week and may feature in today’s League One clash at home to Crawley Town.

Treacy’s deal with Burnley expired in June and he was not offered a new contract.

Boss Sean Dyche did however extend the opportunity for the 25-year-old to return for pre-season and try to earn a new deal.

Treacy opted not to take up that opportunity and has now moved to Barnsley and link up with manager Danny Wilson.

He previously had success in League One during a loan spell with Sheffield Wednesday, who he helped to promotion.

After signing up at Oakwell, Treacy said: “I’m delighted. The clock was ticking down to the start of the season.

“I was wanting to get back on to the pitch and back to playing football again. Barnsley have given me the opportunity to do that and I am delighted to be here.

“When I was talking to Danny Wilson he laid out where he wanted to take the club and I was happy to come and be a part of that.

“Hopefully we will be able to get out of League One as soon as possible.”

Treacy was first contacted by Barnsley at the end of last season but decided to return to Dublin for a  before making a decision on his future.

He said: “The promotion run-in with Burnley then getting released left me quite drained. I wanted a break to enjoy what we’d achieved. I needed time with my family.”

Treacy was visited by Wilson as the Barnsley boss attempted to persuade the wide man to move to Oakwell.

“It was nice for him to come and meet me,” Treacy said.

“Starting on Saturday is realistically out of my grasp and probably Tuesday is as well.

“If I am lucky I might get a couple of minutes in both those games.

“I am doing double sessions.

“It’s just about building up the training sessions and the games and then, in a few weeks, I will have hopefully caught up.

“I don’t want to go too fast and pull a muscle then miss two or three months.”

Bounemouth and Barnsley. Just two clubs preferred by players you couldn't retain, both with inside knowledge that you're are only Premier League ones season visitors.

To the impersonator who's been busy over the last couple of days - thanks for the salute to my work. You can't destroy the TurfMoorTom 'brand'. The words are what's important, not my account name or real identity. You can't beat me with thumbs or impersonation as I'm not fussed about either. Basically, just like your forsaken team's upcoming season, you simply can't win. Keep wasting your time though.

Listen guys, you already know I face in 21 directions at the same time with all my IDs. I'm sorry to report that I keep losing control of myself. I am not flattered by the copiers, actually I'm devastated. To be found out like this is just so embarrassing. Plain truth of the matter is that I'm an utter dirt bag.

Looks like another fool is pretending to be me. Its like being Elvis

Treacy decided enough was enough and dropped a division to get out of our well run club, same as stanislas. Has Ings got an eye on a Bournemouth move?

I know you're an absent landlord where the truth is concerned but this takes the whole packet of biscuits in one gulp without touching the sides.

Firstly, both iDs are you. You've about 44,000 in stock.

Secondly, as reported all over the place, Treacy didn't leave us. He was released. He begged Dyche to come back. Dyche acceded. He turned up for the start of pre-season at just short of 17st. He remained around 5 minutes and was fired. EVERY Burnley fan knows this. You are a top Burnley so you know this. You've typed utter tripe whilst in the full knowledge of this. That's a porky sunshine. Stop living down to all our expectations and up your act. It was just like TMT would have typed. Oh, Hang on .................

This must be a first. A serial collector and copier of usernames is crying because his primary school (oh so clever) tricks have been used by another poster. So, this troll, destroyer of discussion, provides banal dross from his 20+ accounts and whinges like a spoilt brat when he gets a humerous reaction. This bipolar drain on our patience and the welfare state, a depressed loner, spewed of hate - seems to have had a patial lobotomy AND sense of humour bypass. Class. The troll gets trolled and cries like a baby.

Good Luck to KT he was given an opportunity by SD but was not ready to take the challenge. I wish him well fighting his Demons that still may plague him. Got to wish the lad well after being a Claret.

Odd one really as apparently Dyche really got him back on track, but doesn't think even demons controlled he's a squad player even. Barnsley are actually a very good group of lads, he might just do well there and surprise a few people.
